FAMILY CARE

Chiropractic care is for all ages and walks of life. Although we are trained in treating pregnancy and pediatrics, at Zupan Chiropractic we believe families function best if the entire family is under chiropractic care. Families under routine chiropractic care have noticed they have more energy, decreased fatigue, decreased headaches, and a decrease in illnesses. Your body is self-healing and self-regulating. Our goal at Zupan Chiropractic is to determine the cause of the problem and provide specific chiropractic care as opposed to treating the symptoms associated with that problem.

PRENATAL CARE

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is extremely important. A woman’s body undergoes numerous changes as they progress through the stages of pregnancy. Routine chiropractic care in pregnancy can allow the body to maintain decreased stress, improved balance, and decreased muscular tension.

Dr. Morgan has received extended training in treating the prenatal population. She is certified in the Webster technique from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association(ICPA).

The Webster Technique is a specific and gentle technique that releases intrauterine constraints allowing the baby to assume their optimal position for birth. The chiropractic adjustment also reduces the interference to the nervous system which can enhance the body's physiological function enabling the body to reside in a state of ease. This creates an optimal environment for the baby to grow and develop. Also, studies have shown that when maintaining a balanced pelvis, decreased muscle  and ligamentous tension an easier pregnancy and birthing process is more likely to occur.

PEDIATRIC CARE

Birth is the most traumatic event a woman will encounter in her lifetime. All births are not the same and this traumatic event can greatly affect the baby as well. If the trauma placed on the baby during birth goes untreated, this will allow further developmental challenges to occur in the future. During the first year of the child’s life, 65% of neurological development (development of the brain and nervous system) will occur. Therefore, it is important to address any underlying issues or traumas that the child may have endured during the birthing process as soon as possible.

If your child is experiencing any of the conditions below, then it is imperative that you bring your child in for a chiropractic evaluation.

Common Conditions:

  • Colic

  • Ear infections

  • Torticollis(head turned to one side)

  • Difficulty Nursing/Latching

  • Constipation

  • Acid Reflux

  • Difficulty sleeping or having a sense of calmness

POST-PARTUM CARE

The postpartum period is the period following childbirth. This is oftentimes referred to as the fourth trimester. Chiropractic care during this period is just as important as receiving care during pregnancy. The birthing process is one of the most traumatic events of a mother’s and baby’s life. Following birth, the woman’s body undergoes numerous changes. Among those being hormonal, physical, and psychological. The mother is now challenged with carrying a carseat and breastfeeding  regularly which can place a huge amount of stress on her body.

The hormone relaxin has also increased throughout pregnancy allowing the woman’s body to transform and adapt as the baby grows. The residual effects of relaxin after birth can make it difficult for the woman’s body to return to it’s normal biomechanical function. This is where chiropractic care can contribute to aligning the spine, balancing the pelvis, and decreasing the amount of time for recovery during the postpartum period.
